2025 Volvo EX90

The EX90 is Volvo's all-electric, three-row, flagship SUV. It has an EPA-rated driving range of 308 miles, and managed a commendable 312 miles in our highway-range test. It benefits from quick acceleration, a hushed interior, comfortable first- and second-row seats, and a beautifully furnished cabin. Handling is responsive, and the suspension does a mostly good job absorbing bumps. But the power delivery from the front and rear electric motors feels disjointed during hard acceleration. The EX90 was supposed to be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a lidar sensor to support its advanced driving assistance systems. But lidar has yet to be activated on 2025 models, and it was dropped for 2026. The minimalist interior hides many common functions behind layers of touchscreen menus, which makes them maddening to use. Even locking and unlocking the car is unconventional. The 2026 model gets new charging architecture and a new core computer that Volvo says will address issues with the 2025 model.
