Review and specifications
2026 Subaru Uncharted
The 2026 Subaru Uncharted is a twin to the redesigned Toyota C-HR small electric SUV, with one notable plus: it has an even less-expensive base model. While the all-wheel-drive versions offer the same 338-horsepower dual-motor drivetrain and EPA estimated 273-to-287-mile range as the C-HR, Subaru also offers a single-motor front-wheel-drive trim with just 221 hp, but a slightly longer EPA range of 308 miles. The interior's clever packaging gives it an airy feel and 23 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. While most controls are on its large 14-inch touchscreen, Subaru thankfully kept physical knobs for volume and temperature adjustments as well as an array of buttons on the steering wheel. Key active safety systems are standard equipment, including AEB, BSW, and RCTW.

Brand context
About Subaru

Subaru is known for driver-friendly cars and SUVs with standard full-time all-wheel drive. Its models frequently rank near the top of Consumer Reports’ owner satisfaction and reliability ratings, making some used Subarus a good choice. Along with all-wheel drive, Subarus are known for using a “boxer” style four-cylinder engine with opposing pistons that move horizontally. The design reduces vibration and gives the vehicle a low center of gravity. Most Subarus have options like heated seats and leather upholstery. The Crosstrek and Forester are each available as a fuel-efficient hybrid. The brand’s first electric vehicle, the Solterra, is joined by the Trailseeker and Uncharted SUVs. Sports cars like the WRX and rear-drive BRZ showcase the brand’s wilder side.
