Review and specifications
2027 Slate EV Pickup
Slate Auto, a U.S.-based startup manufacturer backed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, only makes one vehicle: A small, bare-bones, two-seat electric pickup truck with a five-foot bed. It has a 205-mile promised range and a starting price of $24,950. When it goes on sale in 2027 it will be a counterpoint to modern trucks and SUVs that have grown in size and complexity. For an extra charge, it can be converted to a two-door SUV or fastback SUV at purchase or after the fact with an optional bolt-in kit that includes seats, a roll cage, and airbags. Like many of the other available options, owners can install the kit themselves. It has crank windows, no touchscreen, and no blind spot warning. The only paint color is black, although many wraps are available, and every Slate gets rear-wheel drive.
