2024 Ford Transit

The 2020 Transit commercial and passenger van is updated with new powertrains and more safety equipment. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6. The previous five-cylinder diesel engine has been replaced by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel. The turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine carries over. All engines are paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available for the first time. Driver assist systems such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection are standard. Blind spot warning and adaptive cruise control are optional. There is a 8.0 inch screen running the Sync 3 infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility comes standard.

About Ford

Ford shifted away from cars this decade, focusing on SUVs and pickup trucks, with the Mustang as the lone exception. Fords are seldom leaders in their segments based on CR’s tests and surveys, but the small Maverick and full-sized F-150 trucks are notable standouts. Some other models score well enough to earn our recommendation, such as the Escape Hybrid and Bronco Sport. The Mustang Mach-E EV is Ford's highest-scoring current model. Overall, Ford's new car reliability is above average, but it varies, so used-car buyers should be mindful to check our ratings.
