2023 Cadillac XT4

The XT4 is Cadillac's new entry-level luxury SUV, and it delivers a classy cabin in a small package. The 237-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission make for a responsive powertrain. Unfortunately, the engine sounds too buzzy when revved. We got 23 mpg overall with premium gasoline, which is unimpressive for the class. The ride is on the stiff side, but on par with the XT4's peers. Its handling is quite nimble. The interior has comfortable seats with ritzy-looking leather, and chrome touches throughout. The infotainment system is easy to use, although the location of some knobs is unusual and the gear selector takes some getting used to. Cadillac's Active Safety Package became standard for 2025 and includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. 2025 is the final year for the XT4.

Brand context

About Cadillac

Cadillac is a storied luxury brand from General Motors with a range of sedans and SUVs positioned above Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC. Its SUV line spans from compact options up to the full-sized Escalade. Several boldly designed EV models have excellent range, quick acceleration, and fast charging speeds. There’s also the V-Series, a line of performance versions available for several vehicles, which can compete with the best sports sedans from Europe. Most models are available with excellent driver assistance tech, including GM’s Super Cruise. Reliability is not strong point.
